Sitting proudly on a cliff top on the outskirts of Playa Paraiso, the all inclusive Bahia Principe Tenerife is the perfect choice for family holidays to Tenerife. This colourful 4 star Costa Adeje hotel combines a laid back vibe for adults with plenty to keep the children entertained. The pool area is the real crowd pleaser. The waters edge is lined with sunbed filled terraces, perfect for lazy days soaking up the Tenerife sunshine. The little ones have a pint sized pool to splash around in alongside.
On dry land, the varied line up of activities includes football, basketball, volleyball, archery and mini golf. The children get a look in too with a fun packed mini club to enjoy. The Bahia Spa is an oasis of calm with a long list of treats for the mind and body available. Step inside the hotel and uncover light and spacious lounges, with abundant seating to relax with a drink or book. This stylish feel continues in the guest rooms and suites. The Bahia Principe Tenerife has all the facilities you would expect from 4 star Costa Adeje hotels. Highlights include: A large outdoor lake style swimming pool with sun terraces, sunbeds, parasols and towel service, kids pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, spa area, gymnasium, buffet restaurant, Mexican restaurant, Asian restaurant, lobby bar, pool bar, sports bar, shopping and leisure centre with a selection of bars, snack bar, disco, mini club for 4 to 12 years, pool games, aqua splash and 24 hour reception with laundry and medical service. Sports on offer are football, volleyball, basketball, bocce, tennis, aerobics, mini golf, diving school, darts and archery. Guests also have access to the facilities at the nearby sister hotel Bahia Principe Costa Adeje.
Room facilities
The hotel has a total of 259 modern guest rooms, consisting of 32 standard rooms, 128 junior suites and 99 junior suites with sea view. All standard rooms feature twin beds or a king sized bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, mini bar, balcony or terrace, safe to hire, bathroom with bathtub, shower, two washbasins, hairdryer and bathroom amenities.
The main Teide Restaurant serves international buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mexican specialities are on the menu in the a la carte Dona Lupita Restaurant. The Asia Restaurant serves a la carte dishes with an Asian flavour. There is also a lobby bar and poolside bar for all your hot and cold beverages needs. The snack bar is open throughout the day for light bites and snacks. Pueblo Principe shopping and leisure centre also hosts various bars and the La Fiesta Sports Bar. Evening fun brings big screen sporting events in the Sports Bar, dancing in the La Fiesta Discotheque, karaoke, live music, cabaret and shows.
The Bahia Principe Tenerife is located on the outskirts of Playa Paraiso in the Costa Adeje area of Tenerife. Reina Sofia Airport is approximately 30kms from the hotel.
Best food I've ever had in an all-inclusive deal
I visited here in July 2014 for one week on an all-inclusive package.
On arriving at the hotel, I was instantly impressed. The reception was lovely. We had a quick check-in and were given a map of how to get to our room, but found it quite easy anyway. Our room was fantastic with plenty of space and lovely views.
The hotel has three, separate swimming pools. The infinity pool is lovely but a little bit cold, although there are plenty of sunbeds for all guests. But bear in mind, the best sunbeds are by the infinity pool that looks out to sea. Unfortunately, we never managed to get one of those sunbeds!
For breakfast, we went to the main restaurant. There was so much choice - fruit, cereal, toast, yoghurt, pancakes and cooked breakfast foods were all on offer. The snack bar by the pool was really good too - I'd recommend the chicken sandwich. It was lovely with proper chicken not the cheap, wafer-thin type you might expect.
On our first day, we went to the desk to book the a la carte restaurants (we picked the Asian, Italian and Spanish ones). We got to choose the times and nights that we wanted to go too, which was really handy.
The Asian restaurant is at the sister hotel (Gran Bahia Tenerife), which is a two-minute walk away. This was amazing with great service and lovely food. They had beautiful sushi and lots more things to choose from. The Italian was my least favourite, though. Again, the starters were amazing but I wasn't too impressed with my main course. But thankfully, the Spanish restaurant was fantastic.
However, the main buffet restaurant was so good, I could have eaten there all week. There was so much choice and we ate there for lunch every day, and for dinner on four different nights. Not once did we get bored of the food. There was always something different and I never struggled to find things I fancied to eat. Service was also absolutely brilliant.
I loved the concept of the self-service bars. You could pour your own spirits and mixers, beers, lagers, cocktails - anything! You could also ask at the bar for particular cocktails, coffees, soft drinks and anything else.
Entertainment is across the road at the plaza in between two hotels. You can take your drinks with you, as long as they are in plastic cups. There's also a sports bar here, although you have to pay for drinks separately, but they aren't very expensive. A few shops are around here, and there's a 24-hour snack bar where you can get crips, burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and San Miguel all night. A nightclub is open until late and features karaoke, which is great if you're not ready to go to bed when the other bars close.
The entertainment isn't the best, unfortunately. There was only one act that we really enjoyed, which involved three male gymnasts who were amazing. The rest was just laughable - I suppose it was entertaining in the respect that it was so bad! Kids would probably enjoy it though. In the main lobby bar there's a singer every night. We liked this, as it has a really chilled-out atmosphere. Children have plenty of activities and entertainment during the day, which is handy for families.
We booked two trips at the hotel with the same member of staff who was really friendly and knowledgable. We went to Siam Water Park, which has to be the cleanest water park ever, as well as whale and dolphin watching. It was amazing to see them out in the wild. But if you're prone to seasickness, perhaps give this a miss. A lot of people were feeling ill!
The only thing that put me off this hotel initially was the location. We knew it was quite far away from Costa Adeje, but didn't realise just how far. The beach is just rocks and sea, and there are only a few shops nearby and maybe one restaurant.
I'd stay here again, but make sure I take more cash so we could get a taxi to Las Americas and have a couple of nights there.
All in all, it's the best all-inclusive hotel I've ever stayed in. I'd definitely return with more spending money!
