The Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa was built with relaxing holidays to Fuerteventura in mind. This luxury hotel sits by the beachfront in Caleta de Fueste and certainly goes all out to impress with a plethora of onsite facilities for all the family. The stunning pool area is the star attraction during the daytime. The two lagoonstyle pools are surrounded by spacious sunlounger filled terraces, perfect for lazy days working on your tan. The bubbling whirlpool bath is a hotspot to chillout. Swaying palm trees offer welcome shade from the heat of the midday sun. Splashing times are on the cards for the children with their own pool alongside to enjoy. The beach is just a hop, skip and jump away for sandcastle building and swimming in the waves.
Another nice touch is the nearby thalassotherapy centre. Indulge in body and beauty treatments or kickback in the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, Turkish bath or Jacuzzi. The hydrotherapy rooms and waterbased treats will invigorate your mind and body in glorious style. Keeping up your fitness regime is easy in the wellequipped fitness room. The children are in for funtimes too with an activity packed mini club and playground to burn off some energy. The sports facilities are amazing too. There's paddle tennis, tennis, billiards, table tennis, volleyball and 5aside football onsite and also watersports and golf available nearby.
The lobby area features a piece of metal artwork at its centre and offers comfy lounge areas to relax with a drink. The guest rooms are done out in a neutral colour palette. Expect dark wooden furniture, tiled floors, crisp white bedding, a 32inch LCD TV and all the latest modern touches that make your holiday special. A wellfitted bathroom and furnished balcony or terrace complete the luxury feel.
The dining scene has a host of tasty treats to tempt your tastebuds. The main restaurant serves local and international buffet style dishes at mealtimes. The Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa has all the facilities you would expect from hotels in Fuerteventura. Highlights include: Two outdoor lagoonstyle swimming pools with sun terraces, sunbeds and parasols, children's pool, buffet restaurant, snack bar, grill restaurant, lounge bar, theatre, 24 hour reception, bureau de change, local supermarket, car hire, babysitting on request, doctor, local gift shop and outdoor parking. The children have a playground and miniclub. Sports facilities include: two minigolf courses, four paddle tennis courts, tennis court, beach volleyball, 5aside football pitch, basketball court, water polo, water aerobics, billiards, petanque and table tennis. Windsurfing, scuba diving, an oceanarium, two golf courses, kayaking and jet skiing are also available nearby. The thalassotherapy spa centre offers five treatment rooms, two hydrotherapy rooms, gymnasium, outdoor and indoor saltwater swimming pools with hydro massage jets, air beds and cervical jets, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, sauna, caldarium, tepidarium, fridgidarium, musicarium, sensation showers and relaxation areas.
Room facilities
The hotel has a total of 462 modern guest rooms, consisting of superior, superior sea view, superior with Jacuzzi, double sea view and double rooms. The superior rooms feature a balcony or terrace, 32inch LCD TV, raindance shower, bathrobe and slippers, free internet connection, pillow menu, safe to rent, pool towels, luxury toiletries, mini bar, air conditioning, blackout curtains, interconnecting rooms, desk, sofa bed/day bed and entry to the thalassotherapy centre.
Food, drink & entertainment
The main restaurant serves buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The snack bar is open during the daytime for light meals, snacks and drinks by the pool. The Grill Restaurant serves a great menu of meat and fish dishes direct from the grill. The Lounge Bar serves a full menu of hot and cold beverages. The theatre hosts the evening entertainment with live music and shows on the agenda.
Location
The Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa is located on the beachfront in Caleta de Fueste on Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura Airport is approximately 7kms from the hotel and the island's capital Puerto de Rosario is 12kms distance.
Fantastic Beachfront Hotel!
I stayed here in August 2010 and it would definitely be a hotel I would return to for a relaxing holiday and with its great service and food standards.
The hotel was in an excellent beachfront location and just a short stroll through the gardens and you are on the beach promenade. From here you could walk around to the small harbour area and take in the sights of the talented sand sculptures being made. The resort shops and restaurants were also a short walk from the hotel, if you like to eat/drink out for a change to the all inclusive.
On the whole, I would say the resort was most suitable for families and couples, although there were a couple of lively bars with music. There was a crazy golf pitch right next door and the Spa, which was separate when we stayed, is now owned by the hotel. Unfortunately, I didn't get to use it during my stay.
We were on All Inclusive at the hotel and found the food to be great with a really good choice and standard of foods. There was even a chocolate fountain for dessert!
