If you’re looking for all the fun of Orlando with plenty to do after dark, consider staying on International Drive. This lively ‘strip’ is packed with bright lights, restaurants and entertainment venues. There are plenty of hotels on International Drive, most with palm-lined pools – perfect for relaxing by when you’re all theme parked-out. Get thrills and spills in the area’s water parks, party till late in one of the lively bars, or take the family for a fun-packed themed dinner. I-Drive (as it’s affectionately known by its devoted fans) has superb shopping too, with big name bargains up for grabs in its outlet malls. Florida’s nickname (The Sunshine State) should give you a clue to the weather on holidays to International Drive. Orlando’s location close to the Tropic of Cancer means the weather here is warm almost all year round. It’s a sub-tropical climate that’s hot and often humid. In winter, daytime highs can reach around 23°C, with the evenings fairly cool at approximately 10°C. In the summer, temperatures often peak at around 30°C. And, whilst June to September is the rainy season, holidays are popular here all year round.

Things to see & do

Few holiday destinations offer quite so much to see and do as International Drive. Seaworld is located at the end of the drive and Universal Studios and Orlando are both just a short drive away. Theme parks asid, theres plenty to keep you busy before youve even left this bustling neck of the woods. First up, IDrive is home to two of Orlandos best known water parks: Wet n Wild and Aquatica so youre never far from dizzying slides and refreshing splashes. Then theres the amazing Wonderworks amusement park, marked by an upsidedown laboratory perched at the side of the drive. Sports fans love the areas sprawling golf courses and ten pin bowling alleys. And for shopaholics, the designer shopping outlets here are among the best in the world. With so much action, it could be easy to forget that youre on holiday so dont forget to spend at least one day kicking back by your hotel pool.

After the sun sets on International Drive holidays, theres plenty more fun to be had. In fact, its the nightlife that leads many people to book their holidays to International Drive. As the name suggests, you can eat your way around the world on International Drive. From oodles of noodles in a Japanese eatery, to piles of pasta in an Italian, youll find almost every kind of gastronomic treat here. There are plenty of fast food joints, as well as sitdown restaurants, seafood feasts and allyoucaneat buffets. One of the most popular ways to dine on IDrive is at a themed dinner, where youre entertained as your food is brought to you (the pirate show is one to watch.) If eating out is one of your favourite parts of being on holiday, International Drive is the right place for you.
