On the coastline of Washington State in America’s Northwest is the city of Seattle. Also known as the Emerald City, Seattle is located on a strip of land between Lake Washington and Puget Sound with the snow-capped peak of Mount Rainier as a backdrop. Seattle generally has a wet climate - on average, it rains in Seattle at least 50% of the time, with the heaviest rain periods between January and May and between October and December. June, July and August are the driest and warmest months. Temperatures in the summer usually hover around a pleasant 24ºC with occasional hot spells where the temperatures can hit 32ºC. There are occasional snowfalls in the winter.

You wont be Sleepless in Seattle with so much to see and do around the city. Take cruise across Puget Sound, with its water world of tiny islands to discover. The children will adore the Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium and the Childrens Museum. The Cascade Mountains are a mecca for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Ski the volcanic slopes of Mount Baker. Flying enthusiasts will enjoy a guided tour of the Boeing Factory and the Seattle Museum of Flight. Enjoy panoramic views from the observation deck of the 605 feet high Space Needle. Escape the city and see ships going through the locks or a salmon climb a ladder at the Chittenden Locks and Fish Ladder.
Theres a good selection of nighttime activities on offer in Seattle. The area around Pioneer Square is where youll find most of Seattles nightlife with bars and nightclubs galore. Jazz Alley in Seattles University District was voted one of the best jazz clubs in the world. With two local wineries located in the neighboring city of Woodinville, there are plenty of wine bars and tasting rooms to pass the night away in the city. The Seattle Symphony performs at Benaroya Hall, the Pacific North West Ballet dances at Seattle Opera House and live music and Broadway shows are on offer at the Paramount and Moore Theatres.
